Compelling Fiction
My stories are about characters, their challenges, their successes and their failures. It's about their narrative. Still, writing Fiction gives me an opportunity to re-imagine the world and make it into what I need it to be. Whether I need it to convey a warning or instill hope, I can make it work. Yet, I must admit that I don't do it all by my lonesome. Nope... These pesky characters have a mind of their own, let me tell you.

This is a work of fiction, and I wish everything was fictional in it... Once upon a time, there was a land where corruption ran rampant amongst politicians, and their misdeeds reflected in dismay and desolation for the people.

As the government thrived in overreach and overindulgence, the masses found themselves held hostage and feeling powerless to revert the erosion of their civil rights. Sycophant legislators, bought and paid for, enriched themselves illicitly at the expense of the suffering of their constituents. Their selfish aims had little to do with democracy or the needs of the people, in a disconnect between the aims of political circles and the realities of the general gender. Legislating in self interest, they continuously enacted laws to protect themselves from us, the people.

If any of this sounds a little too familiar to you, believe me, it's mere coincidence. "THE NGO" is a political thriller that explores, in an allegorical manner, the issues of authoritarianism, corruption and impunity in the contemporary political scenario. What part do we, the common people, play in such a scenario? What should we do, when the well-oiled governmental machine that we finance via our taxes suddenly runs against us?

In the previous books, “FINAL RAID” and “REVENGE of the RAIDERS”, we've witnessed the tale of the botched-up trip that made REX RALEIGH quit the zone raider trade, and we’ve witnessed the payback expedition that opened all our eyes to the truth about ROT SYNDROME.
By this token, I imagine the reader had enough subsidies not to take on the challenge of ever venturing between latitudes 55º north and 55º south, in the region known as the “RED ZONE".
However I feel this is not entirely fair, given that REX fell in love with this very valuable profession, tattooed the zoner Jolly Roger on his left shoulder, and stayed a ZONE RAIDER for more than 10 years before he got disillusioned with all of it. For this reason, in Book 3 of the memoirs, I’ll relate to you the tale of the trip that got REX hooked on being a ZONE RAIDER.
It’s a tale of adventure and discovery, as he had never ventured into the RED ZONE before that time. Perhaps this will do justice to this very worthy and worthwhile career.
